A Sweet Pink Dessert Table

Photographer Mel Barlow sent me this super sweet pink dessert table she photographed for a Martha Stewart wedding show last month. Dawn of One Girl Cookies (based in Brooklyn, NY) created the table and was sweet enough to share some of her inspirations behind the dessert bar below...



Basically, my inspiration for the dessert bar was the overwhelming joy a kid feels when entering a candy store. Just staring at all of the choices and deciding what to have gets people giddy and what bride doesn't want giddy guests?! In addition, I thought it would be nice to add an element of playfulness and interest to a party by having a modernized version of a Venetian hour.







The choices are almost endless... of course, all of the tea cookies, cupcakes, whoopie pies, etc... that we sell at the shop. Then, if the couple would like, we can add some additional elements to really get personal. We can use a family recipe, we can recreate a childhood favorite (Girl Scout Samoas, anyone?) or bring in a cultural element (we are doing a table for a May wedding that will include tim tams for an Australian groom).

50s Style Wedding Cakes

Researching for this post made my mouth water, there are so many scrumptious looking cakes out there to compliment a 50s wedding theme. The fab polkadot wedding cake below was made by Caketasia, I just love the big bow on top!
