wedding dress closeups

My dress is by Collette Dinnigan, bought from Smith and Caugheys, Auckland (to those who thought I made it, most definitely not!). They now have a medium at half the original price (typical)! If you are interested in my thoughts on sizing send me an email.

My shoes are Salvador Sapena, I made Lucy's and Audrey's dresses (various silks), and the little handbag is an old Oroton I found a few years back. Many times throughout the day it did its best to grab hold of the fine lace of my dress.

married!

Walking in with my dear father and Lucy...

and walking out, married!

We're waiting on the official photos, so the above photos sent in by thoughtful guests were most welcome.

And a funny story, which may be set aside for Lucy's 21st (well, maybe not):

Myself, my father, my two lovely bridesmaids and Lucy were waiting near the entrance door to the church, just out of sight. We gave the priest the word that we were ready, and off he went to take his position at the front of the church. On the way up he gave the pianists a nod and they started playing beautiful music. Just as were took our first step towards the doorway Lucy exclaimed 'I need to go poos!'. Outstanding timing!!

My sister made a mad dash to the bathroom with Lucy, while we waited nervously. Afterwards Lucy apparently pulled up her stripey knickers and streaked out into the hallway leaving my sister holding her dress! She cried out to Lucy, who coyly laughed upon realising she was mostly naked. Properly attired she rejoined the wedding party and we all did eventually make it up to the priest, and before the music had finished (though I don't know how). Such a romantic wedding tale!

it's time

In less than three hours I will be walking down a very long aisle in a very big church. Let's just say the nerves are starting to surface.

Kristen + Brendan: Argyle Inspired Invitations

I'm in love with these new folded cards. This may be the first time in all of my years doing a square folded card invitation. The bright navy blue with the sage celery green is so popular this year.

I designed an argyle dot pattern for all of the invitation. Their monogram was designed for the wrap around belly band.

The inserts were all tied into the invitation with celery green ribbon.

Matching green envelopes with an argyle pattern on the pointed flap were a beautiful way to present the invitations.

Alexandria + Paul: Pink and Ivory Elegance

Alexandria's Bay Harbor Wedding is going to be formal and elegant, but fun with the ivory, pink and fuschia color scheme.

Temperley London Bridal

So pretty! Ethereal, dreamy, goddess-like - if you like that sort of thing. Alice Temperley chose the honeysuckle dress (last image above) for her wedding day.

See them all here. There are very pretty bridesmaid dresses too.

Jolina + Angelo: Cherry Blossom Wedding Invitations

Jolina's gatefold invitations in navy and light pink are one of the most custom I have done to date. The details in the set and custom pieces are so unique

The invitations were designed horizontally with a gorgeous cherry blossom graphic.

The inserts were held into each side of the gatefold with custom sashes designed with there oval enclosed monogram.

The reception and accommodations card were both designed with a pink cherry blossom.

The rsvp card with a beautiful light pink rsvp envelope.

As is custom with Fillipino wedding invitations, this suite needed an enclosure for the bridal party and sponsors. I designed this insert as a folded card that opened with all of the information.

The outside of the gatefold was held closed with a custom designed sash with Jolina and Angelo's monogram.

Outer envelopes lined with light pink liners were the final detail in this elegant gatefold invitation suite.

Kate + Laurent: Artisan Paper Gatefolds

Kate fell in love with one of my sample invitations that I sent in her new client box. She had picked out some beautiful Artisan paper and she wanted it incorporated into her design.

The invitation is wrapped with some beautiful apple green ribbon and designed with very scrolly script writing.

the inserts were held into the gatefold with wide pieces of Artisan paper.

The rsvp envelope has matching mumlike flower stamps in peacock and navy blue

The gatefolds were held shut with a gorgeous peacock color ribbon.

I used the artisan paper to make custom envelope liners as well.

The outer stamps are another custom mum print and added the final detail to an absolutely beautiful invitation suite.

Jennifer + Paul: Mehndi and Love Bird Invitations

Jennifer's theme to her wedding is love birds.

Paul is Indian so Jennifer wanted to incorporate some Mehndi style graphic with the love birds and a butterfly.

The RSVP postcards were designed with a monogram, the love birds and mehndi Paisley print.

Seperate inserts were designed with the Hindu ceremony invitations. These I designed with just the butterfly.

The lovebirds sit atop the return address on the blue envelopes, lined with chocolate liners.

Katrina + Stephen: Library Inspired

I've had this invitation in my archives for weeks waiting to blog. When Katrina saw Nicole's Newberry Library Invitations she knew that they were perfect for their wedding. Books were a huge part of Katrina and Stephen's life and even though the wedding will be in wine country in California, books will be a huge part of the wedding.

Some of the elements of Katrina's library theme invitations are similar to Nicole's. The RSVP cards have fun responses.

I designed Katrina's rehearsal dinner invitation to look like a card catalogue piece - complete with the hole in the bottom.

The most unique element of this set was the bookplate included in each invitation. The guests are asked to bring a book to the reception for the bride and groom. Bookplates were included with the invitaitons for the guest to sign and put in the book. I took an old copy of "Pride and Prejudice", Katrina's favorite book, and ripped out the pages for this insert. Then we added an "authors' note" to explain how to use the bookplates.

The bookplates are these pretty oval cream stickers.

The black outer envelopes were wrapped with envelope wraps.

And I waited to post these because Your Wedding Day did a feature on Katrina's invitations on their blog. Congrats Katrina!
