Kate & Michael's stylish Winter wedding

Beautiful wedding photos not only capture the spirit & emotions of the day, but also capture the intricate details and magic moments that are easily missed in the excitement and buzz whilst it's all happening!

These stunning photos of my bride Kate's Winter wedding, back in August 2009, really show the spirit and feelings of their day perfectly.... and what a fabulous location (Bennelong Lawn, Botanic Gardens - overlooking the Opera House & the Sydney Harbour Bridge - say no more!!!) and the groom Michael couldn't look happier! Their stylish reception at Pyrmont's Doltone House was a perfect blend of classic, elegant and contemporary.

Kate's vintage-inspired "Culture Bridal Couture" gown was fully custom-made from silver French metallic lace, with a soft silk satin underlay in Latte, to highlight the pattern within the lace, and it simply glowed against her tanned skin and gorgeous blonde locks. Her gown featured a stunning Swarovski crystal brooch and matching earrings, with a jewelled headpiece & exquisite hand-beading to tie it all together. WHAT A GORGEOUS COUPLE - WE LOVE IT!!

The Value of a Happy Marriage

Reportedly Sandra Bullock is now talking to lawyers. Her husband, Jesse James, claims on his Discovery Channel website that his great-great-grandfather was the famous gunslinger’s cousin. However, Eric James, president of the James Preservation Trust, says it can not find a record of him in the family tree, and has asked him to provide a family genealogy and DNA sampling for the Trust to review; he has not accepted the offer. Jesse, it seems, has a problem with reality.

David Brooks of the New York Times asks the question whether being an Academy Award winner, like Sandra Bullock, is an equal tradeoff to finding out your husband is a West Coast Chopper cheater. He makes the case that if you have a successful marriage, it doesn’t matter how many career setbacks you have, you will still be reasonably happy. But if your marriage is like a house of cards, no matter how many Oscars you take home, you will remain unfulfilled. Marital happiness is good for your health (although it has been reported that Oscar winners live nearly four years longer than nominees). According to one study, being happily married produces a psychic gain equivalent to more than $100,000 a year.

It's So Fancy: Fancy NY Vintage-Inspired Wedding Dresses

I met the fabulous Stephen Nato of Fancy NY during the MS Wedding Anniversary event. As noted in that post, his dress was the best dress of the entire night. So I am not surprised that I love every single dress in his wedding collection. So if you see something you like, head on over to Unique Vintage. The best part - sizes range from 4 to 20!

DC Bridal Event: A Chic Affair

I had the pleasure to attend the luxury wedding event, "A Chic Affair" at the Longview Gallery. What a lovely event. In attendance were some of the top wedding vendors in the Washington metropolitan area. I mean who knew that there was an amazing wedding venue tucked away in the Newseum where Wolfgang Puck Catering will create your wedding fare? I know now.

One of my favorite vendors was MK Catering. Not only was the food delicious but the presentation was beyond words. Their booth was drenched in orange goodness from the decor right down to the mini cupcakes.

There was plenty of good eats all around. I had something delish at the Main Event Catering booth, and at the Purple Onion booth. But the best goodies were from Treet Bakery - Oh Em Gee - Eco-friendly treats made with love by a woman who put the "G" in green. She is so committed to the eco-friendly cause that all her "treets" are packaged in 100 recycled paper and delivered in an eco-friendly car. That's what I call true commitment. Unfortunately, I didn't get to sample anything from Fluffly Thoughts Cakes but their cakes looked amazing.

There were some amazing floral arrangements by Park Florist, who along with Treet, are totally committed to going green. I also loved the floral arrangements by Pupa Flowers and Weddings. They displayed a lovely floral arrangement on top of a beaded pillow. Fabulous.

If you need a little help getting into your dress, you may want to check out Ardyss. They have shapewear products that promise to drop you down a few dress sizes as well as nutritional products to help with your weight goals.

There was also the fabulous and talented Julianne Smith. Julianne Smith is one of the top garter designers in the bridal biz. I was so loving her Chicago Cubs garter (the sports fan in me took over). She is about to launch her couture garter line in a few weeks. So exciting. Check out her web site for more information on the launch date.

Another vendor that stopped me in my tracks was LauraLee Designs. Her handmade bags were to die for. The craftsmanship and the creativity that goes into each of her bags is phenomenal. Such a fab edition to your bridal ensemble. You can design your bag to match your wedding colors.

I also met three amazing photographers - the charming Alexander from Photography by Alexander, the also charming duo from Rodney Bailey Photography and the lovely and talented Jamie Suthard from Borrowed Blue. All photography companies display amazing photographs but I was especially in love with Borrowed Blue's engagement photo that was printed on metal and pieced together to make a larger photo (see image below).

Of course, I can not forget the way fab jewelry by Witchypoo. All of the bling that you can stand at affordable prices. What more do you want?

To top of the afternoon, Carine’s Bridal Atelier put on a phenomenal fashion show of the most amazing bridal gowns that I have seen in some time. To add a very special touch, there was beautiful eye candy sans shirts abound. It was a little hard to focus on the dresses :-)

Check out my fab pics and visit these vendors for more information.
